Storage requirements depend on the battery and the equipment connected to it. Use the manufacturer's storage instructions and ask your installer which controls are intended for normal owner use.
Before leaving the vehicle
- Check the recommended battery charge level and storage temperature range for your model.
- Identify equipment that continues to draw power, such as trackers, alarms or monitoring devices.
- Confirm which charging sources will remain connected and whether unattended charging is supported by the installation instructions.
- Record any existing warnings and resolve them before storage.
A system that appears switched off may still have small ongoing loads. Equally, isolating power may disable equipment you intended to keep running. Do not assume that one switch disconnects every circuit; follow the documented procedure for the vehicle.
Arrange periodic checks
Use the manufacturer's recommended checking interval, and shorten it if your installer advises that remaining loads or conditions require this. If the vehicle will be inaccessible for a long period, discuss the plan before leaving it.
When returning to use, make the visual checks and start-up checks described in the manuals. Do not open enclosures or work on battery connections as a routine storage task. Find the relevant documents or ask for help if your installation's procedure is unclear.
